The legal age in Texas to obtain a marriage license is 18. Couples between the ages of 14-17 must have parental consent. In most counties, the bride and groom must apply for and sign the license together. The bride and groom must present their Social Security numbers and a valid photo ID or original copy of their birth certificates. The cost of the license is usually between $35-$45 and generally must be paid in cash. Couples not on active duty military have a waiting period of 72 hours to obtain the license, which is then valid for 30 days within Texas.
